1. Anjaneyasana or The Crescent Moon Pose
In Sanskrit, Anjaneya refers to the son of Anjana, in this case, referring to the Hindu deity, Lord Hanuman, and asana refers to pose. Anjaneyasana is hence a pose commonly associated with Lord Hanuman. This pose helps relieve sciatica and activates thyroid glands. However, those with a heart condition should avoid this pose.
2. Adho mukha svanasana or the Downward facing dog pose
Adho mukha svanasana is often performed while transitioning from one pose to the other. It is also a part of the Surya-namaskar or the Sun-Salutation. This pose helps improve the blood flow in the brain and strengthens arms and shoulders.
3. Gomukhasana or Cow Face Pose
Gomukhasana is often used during meditation. It is also a part of the hatha yoga practice. This asana helps reduce stress and helps with high blood pressures. This asana can be also be performed in combination with other seated asanas.
4. Bhujangasana or The Cobra Pose
Bhujangasana is one of the poses in sun-salutation or the Surya-namaskar. It is a back-bending asana and a part of the modern yoga practices. This pose helps strengthen the spine and is therapeutic for asthma.
5. Kumbhaka
Kumbhaka is the retention of breath. This particular practice has a myriad of benefits ranging from improving concentration to developing the capacity of the respiratory system.
